Been at this game more than most. Age doesn't always equate to size. I mean world record typical is said to have been 3.5. That's why if managing my goal is to get bucks to 4.5. You will know if a deer has potential. I'm content with my goals and not anyone's else's. Who on here can say they will be hunting a possible B&C buck next year??? I can... I think we all can say we will be hunting a possible B&C next year, possibly. In reality the first branch antlered buck steps out, eh gonna let one fly.😄😄😄 You will not. I predict you sit in a stand and write a poem about early mornings, Copenhagen and mt. Dew while dreaming of hounds chasing rabbits.

If in the 3 hours I'm deer hunting a B&C steps out I'm shooting him. I'm possibly hunting a possible book buck.

Saw 3 different antlerless groups last night and this morning on farm. Group of 8 feeding in alfalfa field, a group of 12 feeding in a clover field and a group of 10 in a remote grass hay and clover field.

I have seen more deer this year than in the last two combined in Jefferson county. That's where all our deer went! Over near madison, our little corner was a wasteland, and with less pressure than ever. Did have some nightime deer traveling through.

This year I saw 5 deer from my stand, but didn’t hunt like I normally do.

I've seen a lot more deer in Dekalb and Steuben counties this last year (2020-2021 season) than I did the previous year/season.

It popped up because a new member commented on it. When someone joins, every thread shows the "new posts" icon.
As for the herd, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say the herd is about 120,000 down from where it was on Labor Day 2020. 😁

In SW Indiana we have a good deer heard but it's all very young. I took a two year old doe because it was the oldest thing I could find. I wouldn't have taken that if it hadn't almost run over me, I thought it was much older when I pulled the trigger. It ran out of a thick bunch of trees, straight at me & I only had a quick glimpse of it before it turned & I shot. There was almost no antlered deer just a few spikes that I let pass.
