For anyone wishing to hunt the Stillwater/North Fork areas at Monroe Lake, you may want to call the office for directions for the check station. INDOT is repairing a bridge next to the entrance to the check station and that access will be limited, if available at all for the upcoming waterfowl season. The check station is still accessible, but in a much more round about way. The office number is 812-837-9546.

Thanks for sharing that info. How has the south zone season been so far? Northern Indiana small waters and shallow waters are frozen over, what ducks are left are concentrated in tight areas.

Monroe is in the central zone. It hasn't been frozen, but not great hunting either (at least at Monroe Lake).

I don't think they got any of the fields planted.

Correct. The lake was flooded until September, so no point to release the water from the marsh just to refill it.

Small waters in N. Indiana are back open now.
