And most of that is "Antler Buck" increase. Which makes sense based on the drop in antlerless quotas. An increase in the number of bucks killed is an indicator of a growing herd for the DNR.

I know this has no bearing on the Indiana harvest but the opening weekend deer harvest in Wisconsin for their forearms opener was down close to 30,000 deer compared to the previous year.

Any idea why? Weather? Illinois was down 15% on their first firearm weekend. According to the DNR harvest data we are up about 3,800 from last year at this time..

We hunt within walking distance of the UP and we only had 4" of snow on the ground. 3 fresh sets of Wolf tracks were there on Friday, season opened Sat. Maybe the deer knew the wolves were in our area and bailed out?
