So we are actually Down not up? I don’t think so.. I’m taking numbers off their website each morning comparing to like numbers on the same day last years Again, we have to take into account that this date in 2017 and 2018 harvest numbers from the 4 day Thanksgiving weekend (about 25 % of the firearm kill) were already included. This upcoming Thanksgiving weekend weather won’t be great but we will still kill a bunch.

So we are actually Down not up? My post this morning was 3+ hours after their time. Then there is always the “48 hour Check in” as I’m sure Joe is comparing to real data for the other years and not raw data like this year.

What day we go over 100k Saturday or Sunday ... I am thinking Saturday! With forecast now showing Thur. and Friday no rain I suspect by Sat. a.m. we will break the 100 K mark. Just checked totals and right at 89,000. Sat and Sunday looks to be a washout though.

Wanna see something interesting, click just crossbows.....their use has exploded. Discussion can be had elsewhere about long term what this means, but they are most definitely being utilized A LOT more than some say.

And hasn’t this been the case in almost all states that started allowing them in archery? It’s always interesting that the folks that don’t utilize them are most often the ones bringing this up. Ha!

Nah, you've seen my thoughts long enough to know that doesn't come from a spot of anything negative. I however, have heard quite a few hunters in discussions claim it isn't a reason vertical bows are declining at all and their use isn't that big. I know for one I'm so happy they exist and are legal because some of our set ups Pops cannot or really struggles to draw his vertical and his crossbow comes in handy!!!

Would you’ve expected different? Honestly, I expected it but not to the degree it would appear. I do, because I love studying stats, want to see if their use correlates to certain areas or county types by graphing each county out sometime (after season).
And hasn’t this been the case in almost all states that started allowing them in archery? I cannot confirm this as I haven't researched all, but I would bet that is a rather safe assumption for one to make.
Wanna see something equally as shocking...shotgun use has "tanked" since rifles were passed. I also wanna see if counties with more woods and less fields this holds true just for observation kicks.

About a 1,000 more than the vertical bows? Yes , crossbows have caught on...with kids, women, older folks like "Pops" and me ...….and just about everyone. Just like the compounds took over the deer kills in 70s. Not a surprise... My selling points to the DNR was we were going to recruit more women and kids, retain older hunters longer and crossbows would aid in the harvest.

I have to admit that I haven't missed hunting with a slug gun @ all.
I do wonder what (if anything) will happen with rifles when the law sunsets after this season...
