Non-hunters are mostly on our side and I’d like to keep it that way. The respect shown for the animal we take is of utmost importance when posting or showing our pictures. One I dislike worse than the protruding tongue is the arrow still sticking out of the animal with copious amounts of blood from the wound. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to get the animal presentable for photographs that don’t turn off people. I get turned off when I don't see the blood. arrow, and reality of taking an animal. It's the true reality of life. When it's real they might be able to handle it since they now know what it looks like. A huge difference of opinion. I've seen some pictures with all the blood and gore and watched as it completely turned off some non-hunters that were pro hunting to begin with. Right now 80% of the non-hunters thinks its OK to hunt, especially for food. I'd like to keep that percentage up there as more and more hunting is lost through the ballot box. The "reality of taking an animal" has nothing to do with a well presented picture of the animal taken. Blood, arrow in wound, tongue hanging out, hunter sitting astride the deer, in the back of a truck with littered beer cans does absolutely nothing for non-hunters to "be able to handle it".

I was just throwing it out there for the another side of posting pictures. Neither one should be pushed either way. Let the person do as they feel. If you noticed last year had tongue in and no blood, but that's my prerogative. I prefer not to preach to others on a preferences. That's all. Sometimes it nice to see where the shot it, angle etc. You can learn a lot on placement and angle. Just another angle. There are many. LOL

One of the things my kids will tell you is that I am VERY particular about taking pics of the dead deer. I try to minimize the blood and I try very hard to put the tongue away as well. I also don't put hats on them or a cigarette in their mouth or the like. I also try to cover them when transporting. I try to treat them with respect, and respect that other folks may not wish to see it. As for shooting an antlered doe....that would certainly be surprising... One of my favorite internet stories is about a guy who tried to "catch" a deer. Not sure how true it is/was...but it's certainly funny. The ding-dong tied a rope to his waist and then tried to rope a deer.....as the story goes, things didn't go to well for him! www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/2390371/posts Maybe this is why ppl think we catch instead kill lol
