I bumped a deer about 40 yards from my tree. Didn't get a look at it. I had a close encounter with a nice buck out of this stand October 20 last year. This is the first time I've been here this season. I see a big buck, dead, about 200 yards away. I'll go check him out after dark tonight. Don't know if it's EHD or a hunter kill, or something else. He's probably a mile from any road that sees daily traffic. Did you check out the buck yet

That sucks. I think a few I'm after might be dead.

Well, I'm back to 8hr days M-F, so looks like I'll be spending more time in the blind trying to get it done.

My wife showed me a post on FB about a feller who killed a deer that had EHD and 2 years later he found out that he was infected with it. He advised hunters to use gloves while field dressing the deer. My question is, if the deer is infected and the hunter isn't aware of it, is the meat safe to eat after cooking?

So the dead buck is on a military refuge (Crane). I talked to the natural resource manager this morning, he said he'd go check it out and verify EHD or not then he could write me a permit for the skull. He wasn't sure if he'd get out there today or not.

I make it a point to not actually believe much of anything posted on FaceBook. *IF* this individual caught EHD two years later from eating an infected deer he is the first one EVER. EHD is just not spread that way. He has some other problem.. or he is pulling everone’s Leg.

Pretty windy here tonight. I was at least able to get in here without creating too much disturbance.

Now obviously, there's 2 sides to the story but that's how he explained it.

I wasn't sure if EHD could be transmitted to humans or not. My wife keeps warning me about that story, but I just agree with her and head to the blind. I don't do much research on deer disease, because I love to live of the land and enjoy what Mother Nature provides to us. As for Facebook, I call it Dramabook due to most people putting their personal business on there when in all honesty it doesn't and shouldn't pertain to anyone else.

I’m sitting on the edge of a crp peninsula this morning surrounded by corn. Nothing so far. I heard some loud scraping before the sun came up close by. All hyped up from some deer videos I’ve been watching the past couple days I knew it had to be a monster buck making a rub....had my bow ready Incase he came in...never mind it was just a coon 👎
