Lost a deer to neighbor dog last year. Had access to some TV antenna sections so figured I would give this a shot. 18ft span is going to need a brace if I get a few hanging. Going to bend up some rear for hangers. Have electric so may look at 110v winch if I can find it cheap enough. May bump the tube up another rung but should be plenty high.

If people cared anything about their "pet", they would keep it at home.

The pipe appears to be about 9 foot high. If you hang from honches and get maximum hight the deer will still only be 3 foot off the ground. If you hang by neck even less. I personally would go as high as possible with pipe if I felt the antana stand was stable/strong enough to support the weight with out bending. You do not have to pull deer clear to a high pipe but can not raise deer higher if pipe is to low. I would want lowest part of deer a min of 4 foot from ground just incase the dog is smart enough to stand on its hind legs to get to it. A medium size dog can reach 3 feet no problem. For rasing mechanism, I use a rope over a treelimb with a bumper hitch and would do the same there if I felt the stand could take the side ways pressure. Any way you look at it that is a great idea. Onebentarrow Thanks. Each tower is 3 ft deep with 300 pound concrete. It should be solid. I will probably try to move the bar up 2 more rungs. This was as high as I could go but think I can move my boat and put a ladder to bump it up. It is about 10 ft now. I think it will work great

Crazy idea. Could run a cable from top of each tower down to center point of the square tube span, and might prevent it from sagging in the middle (if the towers don't bend)?

Next rain here is the 16th if the weather guessers are correct.
I have something similar Duff, it's two telephone poles sunk in the ground with one going across them at the top. It's 13'-14' off the ground. I have 3 eye hooks and put a 4 sheave pulley on each hook for deer season.

There was quite a bit of horse nettle growing in my clover plot. I sprayed it this afternoon with imox.
Went back over the portions I’m converting to brassicas and grains and hit some spots I missed a couple weeks ago with gly and 2,4-d.

I got one new box blind up last night. It was rough. We had to walk a couple hundred yards through standing corn then another quarter mile through beans. Made that trip back and forth several times carrying materials. But, the blind is up and I think it should be good. South side is overlooking crp and standing willows, the north side is overlooking beans. I'm g

About 95% done, one row of metal on the top sides, and some carpet for the inside floor. Bonked my head at least 62 times today working inside this thing. Far from true square, but plenty good enough, glad it’s done.

Here’s the view looking out to the west. The mowed area will get planted next weekend with a food plot mix.

I trimmed a trail into one of my new stands tonight. Trimmed some shooting lanes into the big food plot.
All ready to plant my brassicas, oats, and rye out there. Just need the rain in the forecast go out and broadcast, spray, fertilize, etc.

Trying something different this year. I made a couple mock scrapes using some 1” jute ropes with a little black widow branch butter applied to the rope. One of the scrapes is about 25 yds from my favorite stand and the other is in the same spot I’ve had a mock scrape in for years with a camera on it. Hopefully as Fall inches closer some bucks will start to use it as they normally do throughout the season.

Be interested to hear how that branch butter works for you.

Did a bit of scouting today, saw a herd of 5-6 bachelor bucks. I got some pics on the phone, I will try to post them here if they are clear enough. The biggest one bailed out first and I didn't get him. They were about 200 yds away so fingers crossed that they turned out at all. I had the zoom turned all the way up.
Where do you get the 1" Jute rope?
