I've spent the last couple evenings cleaning up the edges of my food plot with a pole saw, also trying to clear a little more area to expand it slightly. I've got close to 2 acres now, I have enough area to make 3 acres of plot if I get enough trees and brush cleared away.

I have some more chores to get done in the woods like removing a couple trees and putting up a couple horizontal rubs.
Daph has a friend from the Netherlands coming to stay with us for a few weeks. We're picking her up in Indy on June 3rd. I have some honey do's to get done beforehand but, I think while Silvi is visiting, I'll have plenty of time to get into the woods.

Ive been getting my steps in checking to make sure cameras survived winter and having fun seeing all the turkey. I'll start messing with my mock scrapes in a few weeks and getting shooting lanes trimmed up so its not so bad in august/september

I bought a 2nd box blind to setup sometime before season. The fun never ends. This gives me more reasons to head to the farm. Win-win

See page 28. I used pallets that was laying around my yard. I then put pressure treated 1/2in plywood floor.

Working out behind house all weekend cutting dn and cleaning up a tree. Sunday afternoon late I noticed several buzzards circling over area 250 yards away. After I finished my work I went to investigate and found this dead doe. Appears she died during birthing as had a breached fawn partially out. Was backwards, 1 leg out only. Tough way to go.

First fawn of the season on camera, looks like 4-5 more does are heavy so I’m expecting more youngsters.

I put some more sweat equity into the food plot area this morning. Slowly cutting out saplings and brush around the edges to increase the acreage I can plant.
Most trees I'm cutting off flush with the ground. I'm leaving the stumps taller on the bigger trees so I don't hit them with the mower, I'll try burning some out once the pilings on top dry.
Clover is looking good but could definitely use rain. Quite a bit of rye survived my early May mowing, but I'm not concerned about it.

After discussions with the landowner and farmer, we decided to pass on the food plot and plot screen this year. Predictions of extremely dry weather this year has me not wanting to waste the money or worry and then not wanting to waste the time.

After discussions with the landowner and farmer, we decided to pass on the food plot and plot screen this year. Predictions of extremely dry weather this year has me not wanting to waste the money or worry and then not wanting to waste the time. Stopped food plots years ago for these reasons. Not worth the time or money to me.
