Just checked my 1 trail camera that I put out on the 25th. Had does and 6pt on it every day. Both day and night. I know the big bucks stay on the other side of ridge until the rut.

Mowed almost all the trails last night. Checked cams, got several does/fawns and a few small bucks hanging around.
Today I broadcast buckwheat seed into my standing rye, sprayed the plot with glyohosate, and rolled it all down with the cultipacker. About half the plot was good thick rye, the other half was pretty weedy, so we'll see how it does.

My acre of clover is going great. Just need to be lucky and get rain one a week. When it burns out I'll throw some buckwheat. Clover and buckwheat is for my bees, but also for the deer.

Nice storm and heavy rain for 45 minutes. Now it's 71 and nice out. Great for the clover to put out nectar tomorrow. Driving through Aurora and Lawrenceburg the car hit 102 degrees.

Was on a local lake and there were about 6 to 8 deer in the water at noon. 1 dead by a day or 2. Think blue tongue would be this early?
I have seen deer on the edge of the lake but never like this. Interesting to say the least

You might be right. See how dry we get this summer and fall.

Interesting to say the least In the water does not sound good at good at all… This is a little early for EHD but not unheard of.

We are in the "abnormally dry" phase according to the the weather people. With these dry days and high temperatures it won't surprise me if we end up with EHD hitting the deer hard in the southern part of the state.

How many of you guys run mineral sites? I did something different this year and got a couple of the 50 lb blocks of trace minerals from Tsc and let me tell you, the deer activity on the sites are insane.
