I’m guessing it will be listed in Park hunts next fall. It will be a tough draw as the park isn’t very big and positions will be very limited

I’m in. Reading all the comments from Facebook article on this, the anti hunters are going nuts.

I just heard it on 98.1, said they are going to set up the hunt the same as the state and that you must hunt from a tree stand and shoot away from the perimeter into the ground and that all the field dressings must remain inside as well.
Would be pretty neat to get on that list though.

I grew up a block away from Wesselmans park. Before it was a park we used to hunt squirrels with slingshots. Never got one myself but my buddy got a couple as I recall. Didn’t see any deer there in the 60s.

Good for the Park Board. No need to hire paid snipers when their are willing hunters to do it for free. Suppressors would be great for these hunts. There is/was a fenced area in Chain-O-Lakes that I assume was used as their study area. You could see the difference inside it.

A State Nature Preserve and only 4 hunters at a time....Good luck getting on that list! Would it be about the same amount of luck of getting drawn as a person would have at getting drawn for a Kentucky bull Elk tag?

Suppressors would be great for hunting period IMO.
I wish the laws were changed so you could just go to the store and purchase a suppressor instead of paying the fee and waiting for months to see if you are approved.
H*ll, I'd even be willing to pay the fee if I could purchase a suppressor over the counter.

I wouldn't plan my fall around KY elk or this limited hunt.. wouldn't argue if somebody wanted to give me the chance though!

The regs say 10% nonresident.... Which if IIRC would be 15 this year.

Number of Permits Available in the 2019 Elk Hunt Drawing: Bull Firearm - 150 Cow Firearm - 244 Archery/ Crossbow (Cow or Bull)- 175 Youth-Only - 25 So it looks there is 569 Permits Available in the 2019 Elk Hunt Drawing not including the 25 youth Permits. fw.ky.gov/Hunt/Pages/Elk-Hunting-Regs.aspx

I think I could talk my boss into some time on one of our lathes and make my own.
