I was gonna say can I hunt their bird feeder at first lol. If northern Indiana birds are easier then I am in. These Western public forest birds can't read scripts. I'm going to have to ditch decoys and go on the sneak for them. Me and sneak don't go together in the dense under growth forest. Unless I had a partner sit back 30-40 yds and call them in. They simply don't come all the way in. It's in there nature to just strut and look pretty and make the hen come to them in the forest. Now if it's open field edges where they can see a decoy then they will come in. Same thing happened to me. Birds in the timber hung up at the end of a ridge. Decided next time I will just sneak on in and see what happens. Remember also that as the season wears on the underbrush gets thicker.

Headed out soon for my final morning hunt. I'm trying a completely new spot. Winds are a little high today and both WGN and Weather Bug are calling for rain around 8am. I figured I can sit until then. Once/if the rain does move in, I'll pack up and head to a different spot or try to do some running and gunning. Good luck to anyone else heading out and God Bless!

First gobble. Sounds pretty far off though. I'm sure the wind has distorted it somewhat though.

Unfortunately it does not look like I'll be able to help our team out much this year. Work schedule has been atrocious at 70+ hours not including travel. And the stinkin' rains turned my early opening days from 3 hunts to 1! Go get 'em!!!

The first flock of birds moved way off. Went to my usual spot for some running and gunning. Found a bird immediately but, by the time I was getting set up on him the rain and lightening showed. He and I both ran for cover! Lol! Sitting in my truck waiting for it to clear up

Lightening has me pinned down yet again. I have a bird gobbling one field over. Soon as this passes I'm coming out of hiding and going after him

If all goes as I hope, I should be in the Parke county turkey woods at shooting light tomorrow morning.

Good luck guys!
I couldn't leave the money on the table I make a little more with the per diem than just PTO. Plus I have to take next wednesday off for my son's 2nd grade award ceremony.

Probably gonna lose signal but for now hitting locator last half hour and nothing but songbirds and owls. Like a mudbog getting down the lane.

Quiet this morning. No birds heard this morning. Must not like this weather.
