I bought a boat from a guy in kentucky last year, its old enough that there is no serial number, no titles, but I had him sign an Indiana bill of sale, figuring it would come in handy if I decided I wanted to license it for a trolling motor.
Is it going to be a major headache?

Probably not. I'm betting nothing out of the ordinary like any other out of state boat/ATV/trailer. Have to have a LEO look at it and sign off on it before applying for a registration.

I did my boat about 5 years ago. Went to the Auburn License branch and they were very helpful. Auburn is the kind of branch where if you go during the week they make you pick a number, then call it. They gave me the required paperwork and some tips on the boat and trailer. I filled it out, sent it in. The paperwork came back with a number which I had to attach to both boat and trailer. Then I called ACPD and they sent an officer out to verify the numbers. Went to BMV and got my tags and plates.

Nearly 2 years later and I had a cop out to the house today to sign my HIN packet and I dropped it in the mail. Meanwhile Ill probably sand down the boat and repaint it while I wait, then get the registration.
