Or it's part of a well laid out plan.

Possibly. Until that plan works out though he looks weak.

Trump needs to learn to pick his battles and understand the dynamics of national politics. With the democrats taking control of the House, a government shutdown was a serious tactical error as it was a no win situation. The dems had no need to negotiate. With 800,000 people out of work and his approval rating tanking there was no point in negotiating with him as he had no leverage. As a side note, look at the economic effect of the shutdown. Southwest airlines earnings down 68% and attributed to the shutdown by the CEO. Laguardia shutting down incoming flights and so on. There are multiple examples of how the shutdown has hurt this country and for what? A wall??

For supposedly being such a smart businessman he has made some stupid political moves every now and then. I agree this was one of them. Don’t see any way he comes out on top on this one either

Don’t see any way he comes out on top on this one either I agree. If he shuts the government back down in 3 weeks, he loses and Pelosi isn't about to play along with his wall demands (and said so yesterday).

This will become a big win for President. I'm sure there will be a big issue at the wall soon. Then declare and be the savor. Time will tell. This isn't over, just half time.

A wall is going to do nothing to stop these illegals from getting in our country. A big waste of money if you ask me. Although it’s nothing for the government to blow $5 billion, yet I can’t even get a raise.

I agree, nothing short of having someone stand there and grab everyone, but that ain't going to happen either. I think it will take the wall PLUS monitoring equipment to detect when someone is climbing to try to get over. My hope is that the wall will slow them down enough to allow the border patrol to get there quick enough to catch the majority. It'll sure slow them down more than what is in place in many areas now. Just like locks on your car or house, if someone wants to break in the house, or steal the car, they will.

I hope that they can come to some sort of agreement. I agree with the fact that a wall won't stop every willy nilly coming into America, will it slow them down? Possibly, prevent them? NOPE and my logic behind this is ever seen a toddler who wants something so badly they will do anything to get it? Put something on a table out of reach, they slide a chair over to the table when you're not watching and then climb on top of the table to get it.
I may be over simplifying it, if there is something that someone wants they will stop at nothing to get it no matter who says they can't or what obstacles you put in their way. They will always find a way.
When the next shut down comes I hope they work thru it quickly and my reason for this is, I totally disagree with both sides of the aisle that you should not use federal workers as pawns in your political chess match. They have families they are providing for and you should not use them as leverage no matter what angle you are coming from. And for those of you who think I'm employed by the government, nope but I do pay his bills.
In the end either side is just wanting to put a feather in their cap. But hey those are my 2 pennies.

I agree not to using the federal workers as pawns. I think the way to stop a shutdown from happening, or if one DOES happen, the things that should be cut are 1) Payment to the politicians (if it isn't done so already), 2) Payment to their office workers, campaign people and anybody that is associated with the politicians. 3) Stop all payments for travel (including "company cars"), housing, food, health clubs, barbers/hair dressers, etc., etc. to the politicians until the budget is figured out, WITH NO BACK PAY. Make the politicians that want those services to pay for them out of their own pocket. If the politicians want to travel back home during the shutdown, they can do it on their own dime.
But that isn't going to happen because they vote for their own set of rules, we don't get to have a say in what perks they get, which I think is completely and totally wrong.

The only way to stop this crap is to vote these people out of office. Will that happen? Probably not as over 90% of incumbents win re-election.

The only two ways we can save our country from the tyranny of the government. It will only get worse.
Convention of States and pass with term limits (I prefer) or Government take over of the people.
