Own some ground and have a lease in southern IL so spend a lot of time jumping back and forth between there and IN for archery and firearms deer hunting. Also make annual rifle deer hunt to KS. Will possibly go to MO turkey hunting. No other out of state hunts currently planned, but won't rule it out if a buddy has a good idea.
Used to go all over the place to Alaska or a western state every year, for just about everything, but I'm getting a little older and have too darned much taxidermy now that my kids are going to have to deal with some day. My preferred big game these days is whitetail because they eat so good, and if I do kill a nice buck they don't take up too much room on the wall.

I plan on returning to the western U.P. of Michigan in November for a few days of big woods rifle deer hunting. I have not ruled out the possibility of Northern Wisconsin instead. Decisions decisions! LOL

ukwil Get your app in for Colorado? Deadline coming up. I changed mine a couple times, but ultimately went for points+leftover list this year.

My definitely:
-Alaska black bear (May)
My maybes:
- Kansas deer (September / December) - Wyoming pronghorn (October) - Montana deer (November) - Arizona deer (December) - New Mexico elk (December)
Will likely draw one or two of the maybes, would have to get creative with the calendar if I draw them all, but it would be a good problem to have.

So to hunt black bears in Alaska you have to have a hunting license, a permit, and a tag. My tag came in today so I've got everything I need, will probably start packing tomorrow night.
On a more unfortunate note, my uncle sustained a back injury at work last night and will not be coming. Fell out of an 18-wheeler somehow. Hopefully nothing too serious, he said they didn't really know what all is messed up yet.
So it's just going to be me and the bears (hopefully). I am looking forward to the solitude.

Hate to hear that about your uncle. Good luck and dont become bear chow. Weve narrowed down our areas for Wyoming antelope and I'm going to start looking for something to do in Florida. Instead of summer vacation my wife wants to go visit her grandma down on Okeechobee during Christmas break. Looks like some hogs, waterfowl, or possibly even alligator might be on the menu.

I hate flying. I made it to Alaska but my rifle did not. Hopefully the airline finds it soon or I'll have to pull a scrub-buster and whittle a bow out of a pine tree.
