Post your woodcock sightings in this thread so the uplanders can monitor their migration. Was in north central Michigan last week and got into plenty of birds. Think they are starting to make their big flights with temps dropping!

Wonderful fall day for a quick run and scouting trip. No doodles yet but not terribly surprised. I would expect them to get in, hopefully, by the end of the month. Got to lay eyes on some new covers which, to my novice eyes, could hold flight birds (?).

First contact of the 2018-2019 season. Resident doodle out of a cluster of aspen near a river. It was a brutal march through thick tangles of grass and stickers to get there but once we arrived the dog let me know it was worth it. The bird was out of sight before my mind could process what my eyes were seeing. A beautiful day for a walk in the woods with a dog and a new Peterson despite no birds in the bag.

If anyone needs any come on down. They are infested in my running pen right now. Driving the beagles crazy all night with their calling back and forth. Man there's a lot of em.

I kicked up 1/2 dozen on my place yesterday. Most I have ever seen on my place. It was interesting watching them fly thru the woods.... I have never hunted them or really paid much attention to them as I only see a hand full a year. They certainly interesting little critters.

Still seems a tad early but salute the bogsuckers as they travel north...

I was out over the weekend and could hear them calling in the evening. We didn't jump any but they sure where talking to one another.
