woohoo I might be mistaken, but my understanding is that you can use a pcr on public ground. If you don't want to spend a ton of money on one, CVA makes a hunter model in .44 magnum that runs about $250-$300. Cabelas sells them for $269.00. Here's a link cva.com/product/hunter-44-magnum-blued-with-black-stocks/Thanks, everything I've been told and read says its private ground only, but I'll look into it.

I have a cantilever rifled slug barrel (which I haven't used in years) so mine only sees shot, but I haven't noticed much of a pattern change when unmounting and remounting. Perhaps with slugs that would be different? At this point unless you are going to a State that is shotgun only before I'd buy a rifled shotgun barrel w/ cantilever mount I'd just buy a rifle. You shouldn't see much (if any) change in POI when removing/installing your barrel because the scope is attached to it. Completely different story when the scope is attached to the receiver and the barrel comes off. Even if the barrel was threaded on (which it isn't) it would require re-sighting in. I had one lose zero because the nut on the end of the magazine came loose. That took another box+ of slugs to get it sighted back in.
