Post up a pic when you get it all put together.

Sounds like a good Indiana deer rifle! Post up a pic when you get it all put together. I actually killed my 2014 Buck using a 300 blackout pistol and 130gr remington hog hammer. Just ordered 100 130 Barnes tsx bullets for what it would cost to buy 40 rounds of hog hammer. Same bullet and I kept my reloading stuff when I sold my pistol.

Where's the WOOD ? SMH.... Guess no one is brave enough to carry wooden gun into woods anymore. Scared to scratch em can’t kill deer with scratched up wood stock anyway

Not my fault manufacturers don't make the guns I want with wood furniture. I was looking for a 308 recently and was shocked at how many companies don't have a wood stock even as an option anymore. Or if they do they are grossly more expensive. I looked into the ruger american series and the lack of a stock I liked took me in another direction. I ended up with a Howa Gameking package....Hogue stock. Pertaining to actual tree stand safety.....use your harness! I was in a fixed stand last year...the ones that have the cables that support the leading edge of the platform. One of the cables broke on me. My tether to the tree kept me from becoming a statistic. I collected myself and got out of the tree. Almost went up in another tree as I felt I still had daylight left....but then thought better as someone upstairs may be trying to tell me sometime.....and maybe, just maybe, I should listen. I went home.

I came real close to returning this gun. Had some issues with the rounds trying to feed at a sharp angle and jamming. Poor magazine design.
Took the mag apart and twisted the follower on the spring and put it all back together. Feeds great now. Accuracy is acceptable so far. I havent put many rounds through it cause the mag issue was making me mad.
This sees to be a known issue so Ill call ruger and see if I can get some free mags.

I replaced all my cables with chains. About 15 bucks per stand. Well worth it. Also replaced he bolts since I had everything apart.

I think the cables can be fine.....you just really have to inspect everything well EVERY YEAR. As much hassle as it is to bring them down and do a good once over of them it worth it. If I had done that I wouldn't have had my close call. We get lazy or in a hurry or otherwise and it can certainly bite you later. I have considered trying to find a way to use chain VS the ratchet straps as well for even holding the stand to the tree, but I have not been able to find a means to easily keep it tight....so instead I replace straps every few years.....

We use a turnbuckle on the chain around the tree, or a small chain binder.
