Colorado elk tag came, still waiting on the Wyoming deer tag. Good. I'm working on getting the backup gun ready (7mm Rem Mag) and then I'll start working on getting the primary gun dialed in. I want to see if I can get the 200g bullet to shoot in it. If I can, they will do a better job at a long distance than the 180g Berger bullets.

What would be the best part in Colorado to hunt elk without high elevation? What unit do you recommend for someone that goes solo? I am thinking of trying to get OTC license.

I believe you can only get OTC bull tags. As for where, I have no idea.

There are some good looking licenses on the leftover list. I'm really tempted by the Unit 61 cow tags, but I really need to focus on my deer tag for the week that I'm there.
I've never hunted elk in Colorado, but if I wanted low elevation I'd try for a 4th season tag. Cow tags are fairly easy to get in a lot of areas. Weather often forces them down low by this time period.
Cow tags in Wyoming are also easy to draw, and many units have late seasons for antlerless elk when they're down on winter-range.

Are there any cow tags available in Co OTC? And, can a person buy OTC tags from out of state, meaning not physically being in the state at the time of purchase?

Are there any cow tags available in Co OTC? And, can a person buy OTC tags from out of state, meaning not physically being in the state at the time of purchase? You can buy OTC tags online. All cow tags are limited entry, but there are usually leftovers. There are some good leftovers this year, for deer, pronghorn, and elk. They go on sale August 7th at 0900 MDT online, by phone, or in person. It's a goat rodeo, systems crash, and the best tags are gone in seconds.
Leftover tags in Colorado include not only undersubscribed tags, but also tags that have been returned to the department. My deer tag I have this year took 2 points to draw, but there are 9 on the leftover list to purchase without burning any points. You have to be a fast clicker and hope the website doesn't go down, but it's possible to get some good tags that way.

I think im going out there in 2020 for an open invite elk camp with some members from the bowhunting.com forum. Learn the ropes before I try a DIY in another state.
Im only interested in rutting archery elk at the moment.
