The group of guys I dealt with were doing nothing illegal. The DNR knew the dogs were being sold live and regularly inspected the holding pens. The people who bought the dogs did not run kill pens. They ran training pens and did not want any of the coyotes killed. Yes it happened occasionally, but that was never the goal.
You are right, they can still be trapped live or dead, but the population explosion happened when the live market guys stopped trapping.
Why exactly does Indiana have a commercial fishing license that allows people to sell out wild resources to individuals for personal gain?

Yeah I’d say if you set up a bunch of trail cams you’d find more skunks eating eggs than bobcats Cleaning out a nest of eggs is nothing compared to the hen being killed and never laying another egg. Just saying!

Just saying! I disagree. Nest of eggs cleaned out is multiple egg layers gone for the following year, whereas one hen dead is one egg layer.

I supplied about 100 yotes each season for the training pens for several years. I was just one of many trappers I knew that did this that now days don't even set for yotes.

Give it time, hunting cats will come to fruition. How many times did the subject of using long guns to hunt deer come up? If they don't get it pushed thru this year, give it another. If not that year and so on and so on. It's just a matter of time.
Growing up I remember my dad telling me "I saw my first white tail deer today", fast forward to "I heard they will be introducing coyotes". The degradation to the bird population all be it will be hurt for some years, as always there will be some sort of legislation to allow hunting cats and cutting back on birds or what have you.
Just have to be patient and help out the birds where you can either it being reporting to the DNR that you have cats on your property, shooting song dogs, or take up coon hunting.

I always trust the dnr to make the appropriate decisions based on facts and not emotion. It’s pretty much the only branch of government that I have a general trust of. I went to one of the public forums for this topic, and it was a train wreck. Every new age hippie, and progressive looking for a cause to push was there crying about bobcats. Unfortunately I think the DNR has caved to the emotion of the groups.

I think coons and skunks eat way more eggs than yote's and cats eat hens. coons put a hurt on turtle eggs also. I would like to trap a cat when it's furred out with it's winter coat.

Unfortunately I think the DNR has caved to the emotion of the groups. They took the time to show up and voice their opinion I assume they were the largest numbers there voicing their opinion They were by far the largest group there. And I don't think I heard a single person with a reasonable argument. Some of them were downright crazy.
