We havent seen anything in the last two days of traveling like we have been. Seems like it shut right down. Hopefully the warm weather forecasted will crank them up! Good luck to all fellow brothers in the field.

Complete bust this am. Had fun, enjoyed nature. Didn't hear anything except some geese way back at the pond, and a few woodpeckers.

Public land this morning for me. No gobbles so far. Sounds like a lonely hen in the valley below. Deer hunt when it's 36 and that's how I'm dressed, wool bibs and all.

Near the action this morning but now quite close enough. Just had 2 Tom's and 2 Jake's go by at about 80 yards. They found a lone hen and are gathered up by her now at 200 yards. Hopefully they come back by.

Heard exactly one gobble at 620 this morning. Seems strange that he just gobbled once on the limb then shut up. Usually gobble multiple times in the tree especially with these crows making noise. Morale is low.

Mom and two fawns provided some entertainment. Moved into my decoys. Then stared me down. No doubt smelled cough drop when one got down wind. Blew a few times and moved on. Have noticed deer mostly ignoring my calling but there not fond of seeing big dark blobs on the ground. Both does I've seen this year Had twin fawns. Perhaps deer population will rebound in a couple years.

Had the perfect storm going this morning in Michigan. Toms to the right and talkative hens to the left. One of the toms made a mistake and flew down early, spotted my decoys and strutted in to 28yds before I put his lights out at 6:15. Was going to try and get it on video but it was too dark. Two down and one to go, heading for Wisconsin on the 8th. 22.5 # 10.5" beard 3/4" blunted off spurs

Finally got my turkey this morning just after 7am. 26 lbs, 11" triple beard & 1 3/8" spurs. I heard a single gobble as I was walking in. Then 2 more about 100 yds straight ahead of me. Same place I'd heard them a couple days ago. Got the decoys out & settled in my ground blind. All 3 kept gobbling until about 6:45. Saw the 2 fly down thru the trees. About 10 minutes later a hen pops up to my right & moves towards my decoys. She wanders around a bit then heads straight for my blind. Shes hanging out 5 yds in front of me but keeps looking back into the woods. Sure enough here comes 2 toms & another hen. The toms strut for a bit & make a move for my decoys only to turn around & retreat. Then back towards the decoys again. The big one looked kind of jumpy so I shifted in my chair, shouldered my gun, put the red dot on his noggin & fired. A couple of flops & he's done at 45 steps. imgur.com/ogPs5nVimgur.com/6kDPXHQimgur.com/09lpkr2

Shot a nice Jake this morning, my first turkey ever and first turkey to ever come off of our farm which has been in the family over 100 years. Didn't have any around here until about 5-7 years ago when they first started showing up, now we have a gang of about 30 hanging around pretty regularly. This morning was my fourth sit, saw birds every time, but the only thing close enough until then were hens. Pair of Jakes came right to my decoy this morning and I was done at 7:30.
I breasted it out, how about some recipe ideas?

Headed to KY tomorrow. Weather is outstanding. 80's highs and 60's lows for the three days. No rain forecast. Wife will be fishing. One of us should bring home a meal or two
