Decided to leave private farm and hunt public today. We were into them all day as well as hunters. Had one guy sneak in twice and bump a bird that was well on its way. He sure did look slick with all his new camo and brand new strutter decoy. One bird was about 60 yards about ready to pop around some brush and I would've had him and here the ol boy comes squaking away. Left and came back around four and called one in at about 7. Lucky shot. Zero bb's in the head or neck. Two into body. Only thing I could figure is he got a lucky bb in the spine. Had to break his neck but he wasn't moving at all. It's dead all that matters. Pretty sure I'm out of hunters so I'm finally on my own. Took my daughter out opening day and called the super Jake in 5 times. For some reason she couldn't get a shot. Never seen a Jake gobble that much. Wish someone would kill him. Wasted a bunch of time messing with gobbling birds and it turns out to be him. Now to decide if I want a public or private property bird this year.

Heading out soon with my son. Gonna sit the same spot as yesterday morning. Hoping the birds do the same thing.

We walked in to hunt a blind on the food plot. When we got to the edge of the field two dogs started barking at us. They then took off running. Bummer.....,
That could be part of us not seeing or hearing birds..,

They were going off pretty good until last 5 min. now silence
Don't know where they are; very quiet and not seeing any in the spots they normally fly down to. They definitely sounded like they were roosting in the regular place. Figured they would be down by now

Now dead silence. Was proobably only 45 yards away in some timber, just wouldn't come out to the field.

When they go silent, they usually hit the ground. Be patient and get ready. I was...

Nada here...
I don’t ever recall putting in this many hours between Woodmaster and myself and only hearing ONE gobble..
When Woodmaster was setting up the one blind Monday he saw two different small flocks both with a strutting gobbler. Where did they go?

Not one gobble this morning. I saw three hens that looked to be headed towards where I sat yesterday.

Never saw the gobblers and they have gone silent. I'm thinking they headed the opposite direction.

I have not seen one bird. Don't think I have ever had that happen on this place turkey hunting. Hopefully they will show up in a while
It's pretty breezy here, think it's cool enough with that wind they aren't moving much?

We were in them in the roost again this morning, but it sure was quiet. They all flew to the field today instead of the spot we were in like yesterday. Still total silence. First time all week it’s been like this.

Active morning. 2 birds gobbled there heads off. The closest bird came to far side of opening, didn't see his lady and wouldn't come any closer than 80 yards. Then two hens flew down behind him and that was it. Later had a coyote come in. Then 4 deer. Gobbling has all but stopped here.

May have to go on a walkabout here before long.
