Had one Tom gobbling good this morning and a couple hens that looked like they wanted to go to him but had to cross a road. Think I can get him tomorrow but it may take awhile for him to free up from the ladies. Mosquitoes about carried me away and finding ticks all over!

I didn't get one bother by mosquitos or ticks this season. I seen several mosquitos buzzing by but not lingering around me.

I haven’t heard a single bird this morning. I did see a big tom in full strut with a hen, but they didn’t like my fan when I popped out into the field.

Well guys here is the story. It has been a very up and down week. We have been sitting with my uncle that's on hospice and is slowly passing. So this morning I decided to give it one last swing since other family was around. When I arrived at my spot I was headed across the field in the dark when I hear a loud gobble. It was much closer than where I was planning on going. So I stand there a short while and gobble, gobble, gobble. Mind made up. Change of plans. Head to this bird. I set up I'm guessing 200 yards from him. Then a second bird to the north of me fires up. Followed by a 3rd bird to the east. This was where plan A was to take place. Anyways, I start with a short tree call and bam he gobbles, then again, and again. I would say he gobbled 25 to 30 times before flying down. Then when he hit the ground he fires right back up. I gave a few purrs and clucks and he's coming and coming fast. Then he hit the magic 80 yards and stops. Oh crap, now I hear north bird and I think a hen. So I gave a couple soft yelps and boom a gobble close and over my right shoulder. And that was all the original bird needed. He thinks the other bird has his lady. He comes out of strutting on the run. Stops at 28 yards and it's over. 25 1/2 pounds, 12 1/4 beard and 1 1/2 spurs. Very happy with him. I will post some pictures and score later after I take care of family issues. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Be safe and God Bless.

And to go 25.5 pounds at this juncture is huge! Congratulations!

Amazing how hot already! I dressed way too warm. Only thing I’ve heard is a few owls early on.

I just had five deer grazing at the edge of the woods 150 yards away. Nothing yet. Just looking at my funky chicken Jake and the inflatable hen decoy. I have literally woke the woods up with my wing bone and mouth calls!
