Zero gobbles thus far. I did just have four deer come into the field and feed around. Seemed a little uneasy about the blind and decoys.

I got out Saturday, had 2 come strolling by in the woods at about 30 yards but couldn't tell what they were, just could see the tops of their heads bobbing by. I think they just happened past, they didn't seem to be interested in my calling.
I moved my blind to hopefully a better spot, and will give it one last hoorah this weekend.

Just saw the first bird of the day, a hen. She was flying solo. Actually she was walking but you know what I mean.

At 11 I left the blind and went up into the woods on a hillside. Got no reply to my calls and after an hour or so I left. As I'm walking down the hillside and nearing the field edge suddenly there's a tremendous eruption of noise and commotion. A hen jumps up not five feet from where I was standing. Scared the crap outta me. I look down and I see her nest and I count 20 eggs. I can't believe she let me get that close before bolting. Anyways tomorrow will be the inaugural hunt with my ghillie suit.I suspect theyre hanging out on a logging road after flydown. Over 200 Oaks and walnuts taken off this property last fall. Gonna try to get one right off the roost. BTW I took the scenic route home and did not see one turkey out in the fields...very unusual for this area. Anybody else get out today?

Took a ride around the neighborhood at lunchtime today. Finally seen 2 toms out in the fields. First movement we seen in several days. Good luck to everyone. There is plenty of time left.

First time out yesterday evening. Got to the edge of the field at 6:20 and 2 turks in the field. The same one that I have been after. He is always with a jake and sometimes one hen. Crawled on my belly to get behind a tree laying prone. Jake was 150 yards South of me and Tom was 100 yards west of me. I know he will run if I use the hen call so I tried the gobbler and it drew him within about 25 yards. Seemed like he was going to get closer but gave him a shot and WTH!! missed!! Evidently The IC choke is not tight enough for 3.5" #6 out to 25 yards. I thought the choke that was in there was tighter pattern than that. I couldn't find my full at the time. So was done by 6:30. Mad at myself for not letting him get closer or finding my full choke. Should have just drug out the old SP-10 and been done with it but wanted to get a kill with the new shotgun. Hopefully there are some other birds around. That big tom seems to have been keeping the others off his land.
