Been in West Texas for best part of last 3 months working. Driving me nuts cause all I'm getting is a few pictures and some over the Phone reports. Well I'm finally going to get some days off and it looks like it will line up on next weekend. Some boys from Iowa are coming down and we are going to fill up some coolers. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Buddy of mine caught this one the other day. He keeps my dogs tuned up for me while I'm at work. My new bull dog squeaky caught him. She is just getting started but is doing good so far.

So when do we get a hunting Indiana team formed to head to Texas and kill some hogs?

No guns around dogs except for my buddy who only uses it in extreme circumstances. It's a trill. Probably can get some stand hunting together might be able to get some thermal hunting together. Just have to talk to some friends and see. I personally have never shot a hog in the wild. I catch them with dogs

Don't get me wrong there is still a good adrenaline rush but when that hog is wearing a couple of 70 pound bulldog ear rings he has a lot on his mind and you aren't usually high up on the list. Ha

Seen several videos of it done with knife, not really my thing. Love to catch some though. Ones I've seen they had big ol American bulldog, one on each side. Guy came up and grabbed both back of hogs legs then guy came in and stuck it. Once they did that, that pig wasn't going anywhere. I've shot several bayed up with plotts with a bow. Seemed a lot more dangerous than the knife. Maybe I'm wrong. I would love to come down and catch some with you all sometime though. Love seeing some good dog work

I'd be in for a 3 or 4 day weekend trip. I don't really care to stab one, but I think it would be a lot of fun to run along and watch.

Love seeing some good dog work Yeah it's fun to grab one throw it and hog tie it. But watching the dogs work is what I really love. Seeing a dog do what it was bred to do is cool. Those dogs love it more than we do. I've never done it but I imagine when you shoot one that is Bayed and it breaks it could get pretty dicey. I do know that sometimes it takes a lot to bring a hog down. It's a bunch of guys and a bunch of dogs. You don't have to sit still quiet or worry about your scent. You just sit back and let the dogs do there thing. When they bay up go to them and turn the bulldog loose.

A lot of the guys we have come down just want to hang out and watch. Some like to get involved to different degrees. Main thing with us is to be safe and have a good time. We have kids and wives along sometimes. It's all about spending time together and having fun. Coolers full of hog meat is just a bonus. You know what they say bad day of hunting beats a good day at work.

Looks like a big 'un!
You ever caught any that wouldn't fit in the cage?

No my buddies caught one few years ago that weighed 504 lbs. Somehow they got it stuffed in a wagon like That. That hog weighs 200 maybe 220 so you can imagine what 500 lbs would look like.

It looks like it's wet up y'alls way too. It's so rainy here they cancelled school. Haven't been able to hunt last couple of days. Maybe it will give us a break.

I'm going tomorrow unless it's pouring. It's going to be a mess but the hogs should be up on the high ground. I'll let y'all know how it goes.
