I'm new to crossbows, so I'm wondering about a lot of things. Broadheads are what I'm thinking about right now.
I see "crossbow broadheads" advertised, but I'm wondering what the difference is.
I've been shooting a Cabela's brand broadhead, their FX3. It's a fairly small, 100 grain fixed blade head. Is there any real reason not to use these? Is it generally accepted that mechanical heads are better for crossbows?
Thanks for any input.

Use them if your happy with them. I have used rage and now swhackers broad heads. Both have shot well out of my crossbow.

I'm going to start with the MX3's I already have and see how they do. They treated me well out of my compound.

I've never bought crossbow broadheads but my buddy had so we compared his crossbow to my compound broadhead made by the same company. Result was no difference in size, weight, etc. Looks like a marketing ploy to sell the same broadhead just painted a different color and advertise it for crossbows.

I shoot Muzzy 3 blades with my crossbow. I've only had 1 deer make it past 40 yards after the shot with a crossbow and Muzzy point.

The difference between crossbow and compound broadheads is the packaging..

Ah-so.
These days that's a lot like shotgun scopes and rifle scopes.
