I'm looking to plan a hunt out of state this spring. Can anyone point me to some good public land to look at in northern Alabama or Georgia? Thanks for any help!

Most hogs are central to southern in AL. Club I belong to is outside of Montgomery and there are to many there. Also pay attention to when turkey season opens March 15th in a lot of state.

Can you recommend any public land and what is the connection between hog and turkey season?

Woods will be packed with turkey hunters. Some public grounds shut down hog hunting during turkey season. Check the topic titled Hogs down below this one too.

I go to the Sipsey Wilderness, this year will be my 4th trip down there. They have a special feral swine season in September and March. I go in March, much better hunting weather.
You'll need a small game license and a Wildlife Management Area permit (around $60 total). It's not easy hunting, but it's cheap and fun and there are plenty of hogs around if you can find them.

Once the leaves come out visibility is cut down greatly, in places 20 yds is a long shot once the leaves are out. You are on the edge of being too late once the Redbuds start blooming in your hunting area.
