I started clearing out my start seeds area and ordering seeds. I have 14 chestnut seeds and garden plants for March 1st. This takes my mind away from the cold.

Yeah my dogs Chow down on the snow too. They live in the house though. I would think folks with outside pets and livestock would have a never ending battle keeping water for them. When I was a kid, it was my job to go out a couple times a day with a bucket of warm water, and thaw the dog water pans in it and refill. It was a cold job. Now, I just keep 2 water pans, and swap them out.. one in the house and one outside. That way they get liquid water at least twice a day.

I'll be hibernating in my workshop with a fire going.
My only cold weather ritual is packing a bag of warm clothes to put in my car. I wear shorts to work every day no matter how cold it gets. I keep some emergency pants in case I get stuck or break down. I've only had to use them once.

I hadn't been on that site for a while ... Just read that thread.
Wow. All I can say.
I always wonder if folks like that are the same in person as they are behind a keyboard. Seems like some would need bail money and some would need dental work if so...

Seems like some would need bail money and some would need dental work if so... I always felt I could get a good handle of people online. I have met two very good friends here from this site, and recently a couple of others that I can call friends too now. I also met my wife online, as well as dated for awhile before that. I think people project how they really feel behind a keyboard most of the time. No, you cant always read every emotion, but if a person acts a certain way, you can bet its pretty similar to everyday life.

Topic changed from cold weather to what Dew is Dewing, how did that happen? Did I take too long a nap yesterday? What site is that, sounds like Dew is on another one of his rampages again.

I woke up to 2 degrees and an minus 11 windchill.
Insert is keeping it toasty in her at 74 degrees. Firewood is running low though .. it will be close if I can make it to the weekend and 30 degree highs..
My good son in law is my firewood provider... but I don’t expect him to get out in this weather to cut and split firewood...

We keep about 2 seasons on hand, and wood is all we use to heat with. I feel like a woodchuck anymore. Haha

I have ash trees dying so fast I can't keep up with them. Since the trees are dying standing the wood has been way too far gone to be useful by the second year. I only use wood the diameter of a football and larger, and split it fairly big. The last few years the wild cherry have been trying to die as fast as the ash. Mix in a few walnuts and the fire fuel is abundant. This is the 6th year this woods has been heating two houses full time and supplementing my neighbors parent's house. With not using the limb wood in the house, the gold camp has more wood produced every fall/winter than it uses all the next year. While it is helpful, I really wish trees would quit dying.
