I'm needing a trail cam I can check with my phone when it triggers. My property has no wifi but I do get a cellular signal on my phone up in a tree. I know nothing about these cams. Any insight? Going to be put on road coming in. I have a home here but its vacant.

Is this for game or security purposes? Don't know if that makes a difference, but thought I'd ask since you mentioned the vacant house.

Security, this place is an hour from home. My neighbor watches it for me but figured I needed something else also. No phone or Internet, just electric. 60 acres with 2 story log home.

sounds like a cell cam is what you need. Black flash if you want the cam location to remain hidden during night time operation. Spartan Gocams seem to be getting the most praise right now. Put a solar charger on an external battery and you wouldn't have to check it very often. chasingame.com is a good place to do some trail cam research...

I have the spartan go cam att version that I keep at one of my reduction zone spots. No complaints yet. What I read about them before I purchased was you want at least 2 bars of signal for better performance. You don’t have to get what your cell phone is through can get att Verizon sprint and us cellular. Only takes about a minute for the pics to be text to my phone or email. I’ve only had one problem and that was my fault I had a setting set to be staying on line waiting real commands and it runs your battery down quicker. Lasted 2.5months till I switched that. I can still switch all settings from my phone but will only update them when it connects to the server when sending pic. I have a year plan through att for $45 and I think it’s $3 to be able to use the app to be able to do real time commands from your phone.

Moultrie has what they call a Mobile Field Modem MV1. You can connect it to most of their trail cams that were made in 2015 or later and voila, the trail cam becomes a cellular cam. This makes having a cell cam potentially much cheaper depending on the cam you choose to pair the MV1 with. The data plan is only available through moultrie and they only use Verizon at this time. You can monitor battery status and make cam setting changes remotely through the moultrie app which is pretty cool. Another cool thing I think is that if the cam dies, which it seems like 2-3 years is all you get from one, you can just get another cheap cam and you back in the cellular biz again.
