Friday evening was his 7th sit this season. He hunted many hours last year without an opportunity. So, when this 6 point gave him a broadside shot at 25 yards he was more than happy to punch his tag. Upon the crossbow going off the deer dropped so far his chin almost hit the ground. Resulting in a shot further back than he expected. Watching the Luminok on video, we knew we should wait a few hours as it appeared to be the back of the lung or liver entry. After 3+ hours we started blood trailing and the deer was bleeding pretty well. Finding only minimal bubbles in the blood. After 80 yards or so, we found the arrow. At this point the blood trail actually became less. He wondered why, I told him perhaps the exit was through the front of the stomach and guts could start plugging the hole since the arrow came out. We tracked another 60 yards and found where the deer had bedded. Sure enough we found watery blood and some undigested corn and clover. As I was whispering to him about backing out we heard a deer crash through some brush within 30 yards of us. We crept out and went to the house for the night. The next morning, he found the trail again but it was very light. After using our dog and crawling on hands and knees for 3 hours he was rewarded with his trophy. In the thickest nastiest place only 60 yards from where we backed out the night before. We walked within 20 feet of him several times while trying to re-find the blood trail. The dog tried to take us in there twice. But, looking at the area from outside it didn't seem like it could hide a deer. He had died on his belly. So, no white was showing. FYI, always listen to the dog! Here's a photo of Allen's 2017 buck.

PS..... When it comes to dogs - The nose knows! . Yes, it does! We started having her trail deer we had already found when she was a pup 2 years ago. The hard part is reading her body language properly. To tell when she's keying on a dead deer or a live one.

Good job young man, may he be the first of many. Thanks, it's actually #6 for him. He started when he was 6 years old. He's very mentally mature for 12. And has been guiding his mother this year. 😊 It's been awesome to watch. He had taken my wife out Friday morning and they saw 8. But, none got closer than 35yds. Except for a doe with 2 fawns and they passed on them. I had my daughter with me at another property and had no luck. The girls were busy Friday night. So, the young man and I were together again when he got this guy.
