I don't think it's an age. It's more about maturity and ability to control their weapon safely and make good decisions. If my kids were not to that point they wouldn't fly solo. I was 15. My son and daughter are both doing well and this season will likely be their first sits alone. She is 16 and he is soon to be 13.

I grew up where you could walk right out the back door and go hunting and we got turned loose pretty young. Were chasing rabbits and squirrels at probably 10-12 years old by ourselves or with a sibling. One thing dad was always real strict on is that there were only a couple of my buddies he knew that had grown up around guns and hunting he would let me or my brothers hunt with. Couldn't just go with anybody we wanted until we got quite a bit older.
