As with most others my first was a fiberglass kids bow. By the way do you think that says something about what we shold all be buying our kids for birthdays and Christmas ! Never too young to get it set in their minds.
My first real bow was a Hoyt Easton Rambo.

First bow was one of those little plastic jobbies that shot arrows with the suction cups on the end. First real bow was a used Oneida Tomcat. That thing must have weighed 20 pounds. Shot well and was suprisingly quiet.

I hunted first with a 60# Pearson Renegade. That was a very smooth and reliable bow.

PSE Pacer here. I wish I still had it. I actually killed a deer with it when I was a kid.

Actually, my first bow was a bear fiberglass recurve when I was 10 or so. I did not even know I was stringing it backwards for a couple of years. No one in my family knew anything about a bow at the time except my oldest brother, and he was married and lived in Brazil. Never hunted with it, and never really learned to even shoot it well. Decided to get into deer hunting back in high school and bought a bear whitetail II, which I eventually gave to one of my other brothers just to get him interested in hunting. I now have a hoyt, with superslam limbs, which is turned up to 105 lbs. I just had it out today, cleaned and waxed the strings, and played with it a bit, and even put it through a chronograph. 250 fps, which is 170 mph. (fps X .682 = mph) XX75 2514's at 26" with 150gr field points. Not even close to the speed of the new bows, but I would not trade that bow for a new one.
Also bought a new rest, as the old one cost me the biggest buck I ever saw a couple of years ago. He was about 15-20 yards off, broadside, and had no clue I was even in the woods. . . . Until he heard the aluminum arrow slide across the METAL rest I was using. . . Amazing how fast a deer can spot you and do a backflip into oblivion . . . . I just barely heard the hiss of the arrow myself, and did not think it could even be heard more than a few feet away. Wrong...dead wrong....he looked STRAIGHT at me as if I had just slapped his mother! This year, new rest, teflon glides. Silence. . . .
