I hunted Kingsbury yesterday and today and it was horrible. Numbers are way down, property manager says he believes the cold nights have caused the birds to start heading south early this year. I got 1 bird yesterday and 1 today and only fired my gun 4 times today 7 shells total. Only had 2 good shots, hit 1 missed 1 the other shots were out of desperation. Take it for what it's worth .

Hunted a private spot close to willow slough and got a limit yesterday and today. Definitely a lot less in the area with the cold nights

On cold days late afternoon hunts are a better bet.

Saw 6 or 7 at Wilbur Wright. Shot at 2, think I hit the first but not enough to bring down (especially with steel shot), clean miss on the second. No dice but may try again some morning.

Reading that the Doves are not around really or at least in numbers. I'm not sure if I want to Dove hunt at willow Slough this weekend . Any thoughts?

You could call several game preserves and find out if they are doing any good. As for my area this cold snap has pushed a lot of doves out of here, the numbers are way down.

I have 1 mojo Dove decoy and about 2 dozen clip on decoys and 1 Dove call that I bought back in the 1980's . The 2nd half of the season I'll head to Illinois on private property 2 Family farms totaling 500 acres of feed corn and soybeans. Not many Pheasants or rabbits but a ton of Doves .
