Looking at getting a crossbow for the wife and kids to use. I'd like to be able to get them out before gun season when the weather isn't as cold. Looking at the Wicked Ridge and they seem to have good reviews. Anyone have one? What about other suggestions? Trying not to break the bank.

At the Archery Camp USA in July I ran the crossbow portion of the camp. We had about 98 campers plus a good number of youth leaders and adults who each shot the crossbows anywhere from 15 to 20 times each.
We had 4 Wicked Ridge crossbows that were put through their paces with close to 500 shots going through each one of them. That could be a lifetime of shooting for one owner.. they performed magnificently, with only keeping the deck lubricated every 50 or so shots.
The Rangers are 300 fps fast so it has plenty of punch for deer.
I highly recommend Wicked Ridge by TenPoint. They are TenPoint quality at a lower price..
You won't be disappointed ..

I second woody's motion on the wicked ridge. I have the invader and highly recommend it to any and everyone that wants or asks about crossbows.

Love mine & I shot all that I thought I wanted first , guy at BPS pulled it out of the box & assembled it for me to shoot . The first 3 shots were bullseyes , took it home after that . I have no complaints & I went with the ten point scope instead of the red dot

Only thing I would change is for the scope to be illuminated.

I owned a wicked ridge. Good bow. Best for the money if you go compound route.
I went to Excalibur Grizzly (recurve) about the same price and would not trade it for any compound crossbow. Just my $0.02
Ask yourself the following questions when looking for a crossbow.
If I cut a string or have a part fail, how do I replace it? Do you have to put in a bow press? Do you own a press you could use for this repair?
How do you let the bow down after a hunt? Shoot an arrow in the ground?
