I've been cooking bacon and eggs in that skillet that I seasoned. It's working good. I picked up a couple new pieces at an auction last weekend. They are in rough shape and need some work.

Has anyone used electrolysis to clean cast iron? I'm going to make a tank and give it a try.

Nope never have... let us know how it goes.
We may feel that classic cast iron is better but truth is that new stuff is perfectly fine.
Also we need to support the companies making these pans so they will continue to manufacture them.

Also we need to support the companies making these pans so they will continue to manufacture them. I put together a quick electrolysis tank today. I'm going to test it out on a rusted skillet tomorrow. I'll post the results. There's something special about cooking some bacon and eggs in an old cast iron skillet. Especially over a camp fire. I haven't checked the labels on new skillets but I wouldn't be surprised if most of them were made in China. I don't feel the need to support those companies. There will always be a big market for modern cookware.

The companies that make modern skillets will have plenty of business. I was responding to the last sentence in your post.

Just bought some 10" Lodge skillets at Walmart for $7 in the clearance aisle. Still marked USA!

Lodge is made in Tennessee. The old skillets were a lot better finished with smoother surfaces, besides it's just cool to use a skillet that might be 70 or 80 years old.
