It's been chilly up here in Laporte county but we have had more than our normal amount of rain that being said this evening I checked a south facing hillside that produces early and BINGO I found my first morel for 2017.
LET THE SEARCHING BEGIN.
Now If I could just find a turkey by next weekend for my grandson things will be good in my world.

My son and I are up to about 150. Less than most years at this point and if it doesn't rain soon there won't be many more added.

I am with you GS1. I have found very few. Once they start I can get couple 100 a night. The first pic. I saw of one was March 4th in Salem. Then we had some hard freezes. I don't know if that got them or what. I know people are finding some but it is very hit and miss and not big numbers. I see they are finding them up north and in S. Michigan now too.

I found 5 big white ones on my first time out last Saturday morning. I was slow getting started this year and have not been able to make it back out since. I plan on getting back at it next Saturday morning. For the last several years they have not been coming up where I used to find them all the time, or someone is beating me to them!!

What will this cool weather do? Put them popping up to a screeching halt?

So is anyone still finding yellows or is it getting late? Thought maybe this rain would keep em popping a lil bit longer
