My brother's place should get good. Three years ago tree harvested on all 101 acres, last year two tornadoes and this year high winds cleared a lot of trees. With all the trees down the deer have move out. Hopefully, this gives the new plants a chance to grow.

Still have a "huntable" population in the property I turkey and deer hunt. Love hearing them in the spring. Always think I'm hearing my heart pounding until I realize it's the drumming. Fun birds. Used to hunt them quite a bit in Pennsylvania but they are having issues with them. You can't cut the trees you aren't going to have grouse. One or the other.

Just read a very interesting article on another forum I'm on about decline of grouse numbers in Pennsylvania. They attribute quite a bit of loss on the war waged on gypsy moths. Seems the moths eating the vegetation off the trees and killing them opened up the canopy and allowed the new growth to grow, just like timbering. Had quite a few good points. Anyone want to read it, pm me. Don't want to post the link to another forum here.

You post the link. Unless it is one of your "special groups"

www.huntingpa.com/forums/#/topics/172689?page=1See if that works. Good topics on the forum if one is interested in grouse. They even mentioned a article on southern Indiana grouse on another thread. Them boys back there serious about grouse like Hoosiers are deer. West Nile virus seems to be a hot topic to the decline of grouse numbers.
