I only open my rod lockers when on the water. Without her.
The same with tackle bags.

My wife is very indulgent toward the tools of my passions. Besides, if she even raises an eyebrow I just slyly ask how many craft related tools she has. Since she has an entire room full, the vast majority of which were gifts from me, the conversation normally ends there. That's how I define the word "detent".

My wife likes hunting so she's usually on board with most hunting related purchases as long as they're not extreme.
I'm also pretty cheap so I rarely buy things for myself, so it's not usually a big thing.

When she gets to use most of the stuff on boat that solves a lot of the issue!!!

One of the biggest mistakes I ever made was giving my wife the combination to my gun safe so she could store jewelry in it. After putting her things in she asked "How many guns do you own anyway?" I didn't know the answer which made her ask "Well, how many do you really need?" I gave her the standard outdoorsman's reply "One more!"
