Well just got an update from a buddy who hunts our place. One plot looks pretty good but the other two are growing but just at a slower rate. I am really not surprised it was about 9-10 days before they got a rain after I planted so hopefully things will catch up. It will probably be good enough, and definitely better than no plot at all. I did have a patch that didn't do very well, and I think it was my fault. This mix said not to cover anymore than 1/4". The last two crops that said this, I rolled in, and they did great. I'm not thinking whatever went in this spot like the roll very much. However, I'll lime it and fertilizer good in the spring.

Throbak you're right , they stay on the clover till November or until the first frost . I usually don't hunt this plot till muzzy season .

Got some clover and alfalfa I need to spray for grass and Plan on doing that tonight and spreading some 15-15-15 on my clover and new oats and turnip field tomorrow. New plot is 2-3" tall but expect it to jump with this rain and fertilizer I am putting on tomorrow.

Anybody ever have their oats die off this early? I planted jerry oats around labor day, they all came up 4-6" and they began dieing off several weeks ago and almost completely gone. Im hoping to plant some additional rye in the next day or so to try and salvage it.

Although i didnt document the rain fall I seemed to recall there was a decent amount in September.
