Hello I'm new to the Forum. I live in East Central Indiana. I haven't hunted in about 10 years but I'm looking to get back into it with my wife this fall. I've been following this forum for a while specifically on the topic of high-powered rifles. This community seems very welcoming and knowledgeable and I'm glad to be here.

Hello hunter, Sometimes it's easy for us to miss a post added to this thread. I think the guys here are welcoming, so don't let the fact that some of us missed your post think otherwise. It is also a slower time of year than deer season, but turkey season is here now. Welcome to HI. I don't think there are many turkeys out your way. I'm south of Indy in Greenwood. I have to go south or west to see them.

But there is some in Wayne and Randolph county's but not enough to hunt yet.

Yeah Henry County has plenty of deer, probably more than the surrounding counties, however I've not heard of any monsters coming out of there. But you shouldn't have a problem finding some.

But there is some in Wayne and Randolph county's but not enough to hunt yet. I have some hunting privileges in Brownsville, and I remember her mentioning that they had turkeys. It's a bit of a drive for me, so I didn't try there for turkey this year. Next year, the turkey will be coming to me. You don't live that far east do you?

Yeah once you get north of the Connersville Brookville area there aren't many turkey's. I live up near Randolph County and if you get lucky in this neck of the woods you can find a small population, but that's if you're lucky. They're here just not in numbers. We have quite a few coyotes out here and I wonder if that keeps the population from thriving.

We have quite a few coyotes out here and I wonder if that keeps the population from thriving. They sure can, but I bet more get eaten when they're still in the egg. Coons, opossums and skunks will sure get them every chance they get. I think coons are the worst since they're not hunted as much. I caught 13 coons and 4 opossums on my little 10ac plot, and they just keep filling the vacancy. I can't wait for trapping season again. Probably a month after I stopped trapping, I had one trailcam photo with 5 coons eating my corn. I kept moving the corn location, but they would quickly find it. Habitat is equally important. Just like any animal it needs a certain habitat to flourish. I've made a special attempt to improve my area for them, and really think their population will increase in the next couple years.
