Some time back; someone cought a huge Blue Catfish, a bit larger than the one pictured. When it was dressed they found that it had eaten a Canada Goose. Don't remember what state it was cought in, either TN or AR.

I have always been told blue cats are not very tasty. Anyone here actually tried them and know better? Channels are ok, and I know for a fact flathead fillets are delicious! But I have never eaten a blue cat, and have always been told they are not that good.

Blue cat tastes great if you ask me! I'm not a seafood, or a stong fishy tasting liker either. However, I'll bet when they get that big they get a little fishy tasting.

Cut it in 1" squares and deep fry it. That blue there will make lots of great eating "catfish balls".

I've caught some of the biggest catfish man has layed eyes on and have the pictures to prove it!! ....BUT...thats just half the fun let me tell you how to eat 'em (SMILE) Blue Cats are very good to eat but you have to know how to clean them and steak them out for frying or baking. You start with a fillet by cutting the meat from the bones and then the meat from the skin. The secret to preparing a "blue cat" is to slice the white meat right off the skin leaving the red layer of meat attached to the skin. NOW you should have one BIG slab of white meat from one side of the fish! Lay that out and slice it long ways right down the middle of the slab from left to right and then lay it out again and cut it downward from top to bottom into 2 inch slices and working your way across the fillet NOW.... you have some nice thick and white steaks to prepare how you like it! Personally? I like it two ways....... 1. Andy's red Cornmeal with celery salt and cajun spice added in with just the right amount! Then just slip it in some hot vegetable oil!!!! 2. Cajun Shake n' Bake with some Carribean Jerk Marinade poured right on top of the fillet layed out on some aluminum foil and smoked on a grill!! Woooo i'm gettin hungry!!! I hope this helped you all!!!
