Hey everyone, so long story short, I have been in the market for a dog for quite a while. I would certainly love to rescue/adopt but am having trouble locating rescue agencies or even breeders for that matter. I was wondering if anyone knows of any good rescues or breeders in the midwest area for upland-centric dogs. I have all sorts of time on my hands until late August when law school starts and would love to start working with a pup soon. My law school schedule will still allow me to be with the dog quite a bit due to a very short commute and nice class schedule. While I would definitely like to keep this as affordable as possible, I am prepared to shell out what's necessary for the right pup and top-notch care. Any help would be certainly appreciated as this would be my first attempt at raising a sporting breed.

I'd say the biggest thing to look for/at is their mission statement some do not and will not train/advertise upland ability and discourage it or even not adopt to you if you let them know you want to hunt with them. Illinois bird dog rescue does obedience house and field training

Crosscreekbrittanys@gmail.com. She raises brittany and has an outstanding line but also is well versed in rescues etc. She is a full time vet who does this as well. If you are interested in a brittany she can help from pup to rescue. Dr Peppin is her name. Good luck.

A sporting dog project will keep you balanced and centered. Good for you. I have owned numerous Labs and a brittany. All good minded dogs.

Guys-I think Indy may be a little too busy with his new pup to let you all know he has one. I haven't even seen it yet but know that he brought it out to my place to let it run earlier this week. Hopefully he can fill us all in later.

Got a brittany from Cross Creek Brittanys. He just turned 10 weeks old today! That being said, any and all training advice is appreciated. Working on basic obedience stuff right now, crate and house training, clicker training, etc. He is quite the handful but I love the little nugget!

Congratulations on the new pup, if it was a Lab I could talk your ear off about training but I know nothing about bird dogs other than this piece of advice.
This dog is going to be your new best buddy so don't loose your cool with this dog when things ain't going according to plans. DogS respond well to love, praise and treats.
Good Luck.
