...Or should I say old southern man? Anyway, my beautiful wife (who happens to have better field-dressing skills than anyone I have seen in my 50 years) got a job at Purdue, so we will be moving up your way sometime between now and next hunting season. I'm sure there will be a lot of adjustments necessary, culturally, and in terms of my hunting tactics. And one thing I will say right off the bat (although these are fightin' words in some places down here), I thank the Good Lord Above that Indiana does NOT allow dog hunting for deer. Whew, that's all I'll say on that topic.
Our family looks forward to the move. It will put us much closer to my Ohio kinfolks, which will be nice. I will miss the surf fishing though. And, does anyone know if jug fishing for catfish is legal in Indiana? Cheers, y'all!

If you are going to live near Lafayette/west lafayette you have the Wabash river as your biggest river. Always Good to have a new person on here

Ok, great, thanks for the info! Looks like I'll have to retire about 40 jugs, but I'll survive.

Thanks Mr. Snow. But don't worry about us, we won't be living in town anyway. We are farmers.

Maybe I'm being naive, but what's the general problem with Purdue? I mean, other than the usual collegiate liberal BS?

Maybe I'm being naive, but what's the general problem with Purdue? I mean, other than the usual collegiate liberal BS? LOL, nothing at all. It's flat and ugly up that way, but other than that still good people. A lot of us are south of there, and possibly IU fans. They are big rivals with Purdue. I always hated driving up there for work. I did it for about a year when I lived almost 2 hours south. I was on a special assignment. The traffic on 65 north would be bad when I was coming home, but nothing new. I just thought is was an ugly drive. LOL I like a few hills and trees. Hey, I grew up in the inner city, so I can't complain as long as I'm not there.

Thanks for laying out the welcome mat, guys. Don't worry about me rooting for the wrong team. I've been working at Duke for almost 5 years and I still don't root for them!

Hey Swamp!! First of all let me welcome you to Purdue!!! The only Indiana university worth being around!!!! Yeah obviously my wife and I both work here "on the south side of State Street" which I've got a feeling will be close to where your wife will be working if you say you're farmers. Any clue where you'll be living at yet? There's a few other "locals" on this site so I'm sure we can work on a proper welcome for you. We have been going to Beaufort for our annual Oct vacation for close to 20 years and have many friends there that are like second family to us. I also share the deer/dogging thought but sure do like the hog/dogging!! Haven't done a lot of surf fishing but have explored a lot of the ACE Basin area hitting the reds, trout, flounder and whatever else would take a shrimp off a Cajun Thunder I go by this same name on the Charlestonfishing.com site if you've ever been on that? Keep in touch or send me a PM when you get a chance! Oh yeah-Welcome to the HI site!!!! Sorry but you will have to put up with the IU punks occasionally ....we try to keep that to a dull roar though

Welcome, I hope the move is quick and painless. There's plenty of knowledge on here and lots of folks willing to help. I attended Purdue for 4 years and still visit every chance I get. My in-laws are from a town about 30 minutes north of West Lafayette so I'm through town quite a bit...farm family as well. You'll enjoy the area, it's plenty far from Bloomington (where you have to talk slow and use small words to avoid confusing the locals ).

Welcome aboard. Worked at Duke and didn't root for them? I've never been in North Carolina but you would think I was born in Durham. Go Duke.
