That's a good question not many people talk about that place which tells me one of 2 things it either sucks or it's great and nobody wants to brag on it for fear of everybody going there. You live in Lake county give them a call and ask them what their waterfowl kill was for the season and then ask them if they offer anything else besides waterfowl hunting.
Give us the scoop.

If you can get hold of a copy, check out the DVD video called "Everglades of the North". It's a great documentary explaining the history of that area. Pretty sad how much wetlands were destroyed and drained to create cheap farm land. They actually straightened out the Kankakee river, and drained a six mile long lake.

I found this information on their web site . I'm going to call this weekend when I'm off of work so that I can write the updated information down . I did talk to a Co-worker who's husband and son waterfowl hunt and she said that new blinds were made there , I'm guessing by the DNR.and she also said that her husband and son like the place .

The DNR has nothing to do with the Grand Kankakee Marsh it's owned ,developed and operated by the Lake county parks department. If you call on the weekend you will probably find it's closed.

That is an excellent harvest considering the lack of birds this fall. If I lived near there and didn't have anyplace else to go I would become a regular.

The lady at work said this : her husband and son said the earlier you get there the better chance of getting a good blind and a pair of waders are a must . You can walk to the blinds . They use a boat to haul in the decoys . The bad side of things are it's a minimum of 3 hunters and I hunt alone for the most part . I don't know the Coworkers husband and son . I did meet them each 1 time .

I have hunted there before for ducks. We did ok. The do have some really nice below water level blinds. Sliding tops and all.
