Hb1231 passed the House 93-0 Looks like it will fly right on through. What a terrible precedent this is setting.. Game management by the legislature....

Talk about a majority vote? Was there secretly a tab in the bill that said all legislators get a 30% wage increase?

In general I'd have to say there is an assault on the DNR/NRC management plans. If only Mitch were Governor.

Hb1231 passed the House 93-0 WOW - is there a war going on with the DNR? Have things been bad between them for a while or something?

I've got a sneaky suspicion that the DNR backed out of the HPR proposal last year to simply save face and is still in support of it. Is there any alliance between the DNR and the House's Natural Resources Committee that passed this 11-0?

No matter what the reasoning, having the legislature doing line item wildlife issues is not a great plan. Then again, since wildlife laws are laws, the legislature has to be involved.

The legislative involvement should be Acting on suggestions from NRC and DNR not acting alone like this imo

The legislative involvement should be Acting on suggestions from NRC and DNR not acting alone like this imo I agree the DNR should set rules, but who exactly is the NRC, who are the members, and who decided they were/are a necessary part of the equation?

We're HPR allowed in High Fence??? I don't believe so. I was under the impression that state law for season and weapon had to be followed prior to the original suit over DNR oversight of the fenced operations. IIRC, that was one of the issues with the Bruce facility and a celebrity hunter.

The Natural Resources Commission was created by the legislature to pass the rules that the DNR operates under. Members of the NRC are appointed by the Governor. Passing this bill renders their actions last year moot. They invested almost a year studying this issue only to be overruled by a bunch of lawyers. www.in.gov/nrc/2352.htmJack

The preserves have always been able to use rifles as they were on private property and have nothing to do with dnr laws. I can't believe there has not been any opposition to the rifle proposal. Looks like it's gonna pass. After a couple major defeats this year I think the dnr will reevaluate how they deal with issue.

They might quit bringing any proposals forward and leave the rulemaking to the legislature.

The dnr unfortunately has had a few poor leaders who convey the attitude of "its our way or no way and willing to go all or nothing. Well, they have ended up with nothing on a couple things. Hopefully they will have a genuine change of heart and regain the integrity and respect that the dnr should have.

You don't make deals with the devil OR sleep with the enemy's Some places Comprimise is not a option I went to the mtgs Every comment was documented The People's comments favored no HPR They acted accordingly The Polititions are going against the system the way it was set up to be used as always it seems , Not a good thing IMO

I can't speak for the hpr issue as I was not engaged in that fight. I do know everything that has happened in the high fence and it started with a couple greater than thou individuals who started this bad perception of the dnr and hence the reprocutions they've felt.
