I'm new to hunting just began last year with squirrel. I now deer hunted for the first time but didn't even see anything. I hunted fish lake and galena marsh in Laporte Co. hope to learn a few things from some vets

They sure do know a lot. With no one close to teach me, I can't imagine starting this sport without the internet. You'll have to decide what fits you best and keep going out. This has been a slow year for me, but not from an opportunity stand point, more hunting days than the other two seasons combined. One never knows when a deer will come by, but there certainly things that we can do to improve our chances. Get some cameras, but wouldn't recommend using them on public land. Welcome to the site and do NOT be afraid to ask a stupid question; I've already asked them once.

I have a friend that has helped me tremendously and I've learned some things from the internet. Getting out there is definitely the first step and by no means am I a quitter. I do know hunting public land is difficult but it's all I have for now. I will be hitting it hard knocking on doors and looking for some private land. thanks for the warm welcome and I hope to share some things I experience and look forward to hearing everyone else's experiences as well
