Just messing around with posting pictures. Heck of a lot easier posting the link than trying to create the image here. I don't think this site takes bmp image. So in that case a url would be better

I tried to post the picture of your with the img tags on here. It would not come up.
I tried posting some of my own that were bmps and they wouldn't go either.
JPEGs are no problem. If you can save them as such then you cant post them up anytime.
Of course the link method works OK too..
BTW - that is a GREAT picture.. Very well composed..

Here are some pheasant pictures from our area ... Hullet marsh , hunting with my Springer Sally and my Charles Daly 12 ga. #6 shot . Conestoga Lake , hunting with my Springer Sally and my Remington Peerless 12 ga. #6 shot . Pelee Island , hunting with my Springer Sally , and my Weatherby Orion 12 ga. #6 shot . and my 870 20 ga. pump #5 shot ..... we have 12 guys in our group , we hunt for 2 days , we are allowed 10 birds each .... my buddy and I took approx 50 birds off our Spingers towards the groups total .... some guys are older and don't have dogs any more so we all have to pitch in birds so everybody goes home with birds .... Here is an awsome shot I got of a bird strutting along the shoreline .... the wind picked up his tail to create a great photo opportunity !

RJ:
Very nice collection of snacks there! I see Pheasants are now under control on Peelee after your adventure. Very nice, comgrats. I also Hunt Grouse heavily and I must agree with your statment in your other post about the difference in Flight and approach with Norhtern Grouse and Southern Grouse. I too have found that the Southern Birds are quicker on the fly and more skiddish toward predators and people, as well dogs. But that is what keeps us on our toes. Very nice pictures, glad you were so successful. Perhaps one day there is a hunt together up North, maybe my place, I have hunted there since 87, and can't recall very many times or days when I didn't get a limit of Grouse before lunch. I'm sure you would enjoy.

John : You got that right ! .... Hunting Northern Ruffed Grouse is sweeeeeet ! There are more birds up North by far than my home area , We have always done well up North on grouse while we were moose hunting ... a great place to train a dog , get pictures and have a feast of what I believe is the tastiest bird around ! Sounds like you guys have it down pat ! ..... I've always wondered why the Ruffed Grouse from way up North are so passive ? I talked to a biologist once and he said " you might be the 1st human the bird has seen " ! ;D
I'm not a big fan of Spruce Grouse ( maybe I haven't figured a good way to cook them ..... But Ruffed Grouse are sweeeeeet !
Jack : Yep .... unfortunately that's all we have in this area are release programs for pheasants .... the local township release , Hullet Marsh , Luther Marsh , Tiny Marsh , and Conestoga Lake . Pretty mush all are 3 bird limit , 2 cocks and 1 hen .... Conestoga is a 2 bird limit now with 1 hen only .
Now Pelee Island still has a natural population of birds .... basically they have a great Pheasantry on the island and they release 1000's of birds each fall for the hunt's ( 3 , two day hunts over 3 weeks starting the end of October ) ... but there are native birds there still , as some parts of the island are closed to hunting .... I have had my wife and daughter there on vacation in the summer and have seen many wild cock birds and hens with chicks .... a great place for photo's of birds in a natural setting ...

RJ:
I could shoot Spruce Grouse all day as well there, but as you stated they are not as good eating. Sometimes I have, When things were a little slow, which is seldom, and found them crammmed full of spruce needles! Don't know how they could fit that many in their body and throat. This is what gives them that weird taste. But there is ample supply of Ruffed Grouse and Sharp Tails as well as Woodcock. All exceptional eating. At the same time you can load up on Rabbit. All this in between hunting Bear or Moose. My place is just North of Temagami.
