Here is an excellent buck a friend and my taxidermist Dean Stallion of American Taxidermy in Boonville Indiana took in Illinois during the MZ season.

Either Dean is 3'-6" tall and 65lbs or that IS ONE BIG WHITETAIL Impressive! Dean is about 6 foot and goes in the neighborhood of 190. Yes, it was a very impressive deer. He killed it after being in his stand less than 5 minutes one evening. It was very windy when he went into his stand. When he got up in his stand he pulled his MZ up with a rope. The gun barrel dinged the stand and made a noise. Dean caught movement out of the corner of his eye and this bad boy stood up from his bed only about 40 yards away. The buck was looking back towards Dean, but not up, trying to locate the source of the noise. Dean was a fumbling as best he could to get a primer in his MZ before the buck had enough and went away. He got loaded up and shot him. The wind must have covered up any noise from Dean coming in to his stand. Of course Dean does like I do – I stalk my stand..

Any idea what the deer dressed out at?

Big 8 pointers are the most impressive in my opinion I agree on the big eights.. There is something special about them. This is the biggest one we have taken. My son got him three years ago. He scored 158 and change.. This is my personal biggest in eight pointers. Last year’s opening evening slug gun kill. I never put a tape on him, but I like him..

Yes sir the right sides match's the left. The buck from last year was short on right side.......... or you had him at a really bad angle.
And I know how you are with pictures............lol

The most impressive thing is JB and Woody having a civil conversation.

The most impressive thing is JB and Woody having a civil conversation. Nah ... I've seen it before , you just have to get them both in the right place and talking about something they both love .

Here is a picture some of you have seen in the past. It's a main frame 8 point that that has 15 scoreable points. The 8 point frame grosses 158, The full gross score is 176 7/8 and net is 168 3/8. I killed him during the 2002 muzzleloader season. He was an old buck aged at at least 5 1/2.

Oh... I remember that one... Late season muzzleloader kill..
GREAT DEER!!
They are even more special in knowing that this old boy survived and dodged all the slug gun hunters all season and then ended up going down to a smokeploe in late season..
Congratulations again....
