Do we want to postpone until a later date where we know that there should be Pheasants available and more manageable cover to walk through ?

Woody your in the same boat as I am , for me it's a 3 hour drive one way . I'm not sure if my hunting partner can make it , so that means renting a car and do a hotel stay and the hunt , I don't trust my car for a 3 hour drive do to it needs upper and lower ball joints on both sides . I think for me atleast we wait a month for this hunt .

I'm very flexible with my schedule. Let's wait, but please let's set a date or we'll let it go another year. I have to seize the day.

I have some more input. In talking more with Shawn at Royal Flush, he confirms that the pheasant this time of year will be none to great if he has any at all. Bird suppliers just don't regularly plan on a major pheasant brood to be ready until more like November and they keep it rolling through the following March. Based on comments posted here and my recent input from whitetail1 and der HuntMeister, I am highly recommending that we postpone the hunt. With many factors listed, and a lot of guys hunkered up for deer season, along with hotel issues, October 10th is simply not the best date. Let's face it guys, if we're going to drop $100 to $150 per man on a bird hunt, I want to do my best to provide a great experience. That said, I will also suggest that historically, my best hunts have always been from early January through mid February. I suggest we lock in a date from mid to late January. After all, from ducks to deer and everything between, a bird hunt is a great place to trade those stories! Let me know your thoughts!

I don't have anything planned in January except ice fishing unless someone wants company in Florida.

I work in the weekend of 9 -10 but I'm off that Friday and I'm off on the weekend of 16 - 17 but I work that Friday so I will need to either take a Friday off or a weekend off . I can put vacation time in either way . I'm kinda leaning towards the 16 - 17 that's my payday weekend . I hate typing on a cell phone when I first made this post . Now I'm at home correcting every thing .

I would prefer the 16-17 date as well. Thanks for bringing up the suggestion to change guys, I really do believe we will have a much better experience in Jan than Oct.

16-17 is my birthday weekend, I think I'm off we will see if I'm able to hunt it. And I think it would be a much better time for traveling for everyone. Historically the month of January is known for some large flooding on the Wabash.

That weekend works for me. Just got my scheduled changed. The weekends i worked are now my weekends off. I don't know where everyone will be coming from but, If there is anyone that would be wanting to car pool I could pick up a couple of hitchhikers on the way down from La Porte.

Highcotton, is it too early to set up for Jan 16th? I'll get a message to Shawn and have him put us down for Jan 16, 2016. That should be fine but I will confirm here once I hear back from him!
