Did everyone shoot their limit within a box of shells Today ? Quite a few thing didn't go as planned as I was hoping for this hunting season . I never was able to get a hold of the hunt club that I wanted to join ( I even Facebooked a message to them ) .

It took a box and a half and an hour and a half for me but I have struggled after the change to steel shot. Kudos to the DNR! All three F&W's near me had great looking fields.

We hunted Winamac field B and didn't fire a round all day. Only saw 4-5 birds and only two of those were marginally close for a shot. The sunflowers on our field were brown and didn't have any seeds remaining or the plants had never set seeds. Lots of shooting from field A though just to the south of us. I only heard 1 shot from fields C & D to the east of us. During the pre-hunt briefing the DNR had advised us the observed bird counts were very low this year. Still a fun day in the field and a day off work!

I did notice there weren't many doves around my neighborhood , I normally see at least 8 -10 Doves sitting on the power lines at one time .But this year I finally seen 1 dove fly around over by me .

Drew a public ground hunt here in Ohio. Managed 12, but it took a while. Didn't really start flying until about 4 or so. A lot of sky busting took place so birds were weary from the get go. Might e seen 1500 to 2000 birds.

6 of us hunted yesterday morning and we all shot our limit except one guy and he was 2 birds short of a limit, it was a good day.

Sunflower fields a gravel road , a dead tree near by . Or pine trees near by and a place for doves to be able to drink water

Sunflower fields a gravel road , a dead tree near by . Or pine trees near by and a place for doves to be able to drink water I know where some sunflowers are; do they need to be cut? One day, I was hunting in my bottom land and in a blind. A flock of doves came in to play in the creek; they were everywhere, even landing in my blind window looking at me.

Corn fields cut for silage are hard to beat.

Corn fields cut for silage are hard to beat. I bet they are. I've heard guys shooting a bunch of them close to where I hunt, but my buddy doesn't have any crops. I've seen them fly over, but I'd be hard pressed to shoot one, but I'd try. I think they fly kind of crazy as if they have no group coordination.

A friend of mine hunted Winamac field E on 9/1, spoke with him yesterday. He said he got 12, hunting partner got 8. They said on field E they had birds flying in and out of the sunflowers all day and it really picked up after 5pm. Just sounds like I picked the wrong field. I'll know better next time. First time for me hunting doves and on a draw hunt going in totally blind. At least I got to see Winamac FWA in case I want to go back.

Got out this for the first time. Got 7 on 16 shots. Started out hunting geese. Could have had more doves if we hadn't set up for geese.

How did you do on the Geese ? No good. There was a group of five guys set up about 400 yards away with a bigger spread and only 3 groups came and they all went to them and most of them didn't fly away.

Ok , atleast you went out and tried . If you were by yourself do you think that the Geese would have gone to your spread ?
