I have no dislike for bows. Back in high school, I was actually quite good with the government supplied longbows they supplied the gym class with. As you can imagine, a modern compound bow is easier and more accurate, especially with proper optics. But the decision to switch to a crossbow was out of future health concerns (as my wife explained).
I'm just glad our state came to its senses and now allows anyone to use a crossbow for the entire bow season (instead of only allowing people with handicaps to use them, as was previously mandated). Let's hope it stays that way and some of the more extreme hardcore compound bow people don't get their way and change the rules back to what they were.

The DNR will never go back and disallow crossbows. They wanted them for years before they actually did it. They finally figured out that the bowhunter and deer hunter groups really didn't represent all bow hunters or all deer hunters. Once that perception was gone they did the right thing... .

I added myself to the compound list, though I may use my new crossbow this season. When I was 15, I bought an old bear compound from a pawn shop and shot terribly at first. Then, when I was married at 20, I ended up buying a "top of the line" Hoyt with some cruise money I won while on our honeymoon I still hunt with that bow to this day and that was 15 years ago since buying my bow My 10 Year old daughter has shown a lot of interest in hunting with me, so I bit the bullet and bought a crossbow a few weeks ago. I went with a Stealth FX4 from Tenpoint so we could all use it, and to be honest, it is a lot of fun to shoot. I love bow hunting (compound), but my shoulders have started to hurt last season from pulling 70 pounds for years. I just read the comments about shoulder damage, and I assumed that my bow was the cause even before reading this. It does get painful pulling back the bow at times and while sitting in my tree lounge all day long in the dead of winter I work in IT all day, so my job is not very physically demanding. I obviously knew it wasn't' due to work related issues. Anyhow, thanks for all the comments all!
